Capturing Milestones with the First Lady of the United States
Problem
Mesa Community College is the largest of the ten colleges in the Maricopa County Community College District. The First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, was coming to speak at MCC’s 2024 graduation ceremony, and the college’s marketing team, Institutional Advancement, was looking to have someone in house take photos of the event on behalf of the department.
Process
To be better versed in the pace of event photography, I reached out to MCC’s media team for shadowing opportunities for different events around campus as well as guidance on recommended equipment and tips. Additionally, to get more familiar with the venue and how it will be set up for the day of the event, I visited the venue the day before the event to walk around and take test photos to gauge positioning and lighting.
Results
I was able to take photos that Institutional Advancement has since used throughout a number of articles and promotional materials for both internal and external communications.
